The Moorish Lounge is not just a restaurant: It’s a place; a space; a venue. It’s a way of life and a culture where we are proud to abide by our intended Moorish Mantras in the day-to-day decision making within the business:

We have a wonderful bunch of regulars from 8 months to 88 years old – proving our customers share a mentality, not an age bracket.

We have an access ramp when required*, disabled loo and unisex baby-change facilities.

(*hoping to make a permanent change to the building access one day, but have to go through Landlord’s consent and Listed Building consent before we can do that!)

Our menu caters for meat eaters, folk who like fish, gluten-free friends, vegetarians and vegans (with more ‘options’ than a vegetable pasta bake!)…so you CAN all come out together at The Moorish Lounge.

With influences from across the Mediterranean and North Africa, dishes offered on our menu naturally cater for those of us with common intolerances. We have a separate card listing our dishes and common problematic ingredients. Those who need or choose to watch what they eat can browse the menu without embarrassment, while those of you who aren’t fussed needn’t trawl through off-putting or complicated ’coding’ and categories.

The Moorish Lounge is a showcase for local Artisans, from potters to furniture makers – a working exhibition space for local craftsmen who wouldn’t otherwise have their work on show to the public.

There’s always plenty of local art on display in our Blue Room. You’re welcome to take a look around – even if you’ve no plans on eating a full meal. Next time you’re in the area, why not grab a coffee and a cake, and admire the pieces on show?

All our take away ‘things’ are fully compostable (including the cutlery!) and future friendly. We have installed rain water harvesting for toilet flushing, low energy lighting throughout, and an air source heat pump for our hot water & heating. We also use our orange peelings from the kitchen as fire-lighters for our chimineas and ‘waste’ till receipts as order pads!

The Moorish Lounge is the place for like-minded folk to be. Everybody can learn from each other – it’s amazing the people you’ll meet at Moorish.

We also partner with great establishments like Otley College through work-based apprenticeship schemes. The Moorish Lounge gardens are a working project for the new intake of mature students studying garden design – as their knowledge grows, so will our gardens!
